The Panhandle Butterfly House is led and staffed totally by volunteers. Volunteering offers many new challenges, exciting experiences, chances to share your expertise, learn, make new friends, have fun, and contribute to your community. Below is information on the volunteer opportunities and the links to get involved.

  • Greet and interact with the public
  • Guide and educate visitors about Florida butterflies and gardening
  • Provide casual interpretation
  • Manage butterfly house resources
  • Training provided
  • Workdays – Thursday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm

Gardeners – Contact pbhvolunteers@gmail.com

  • Help plan the PBH gardens
  • Grow and manage plants that attract butterflies and caterpillars
  • Maintain the vivarium and outdoor gardens
  • Workdays – scheduled weekly during the growing season

Marketeers – Contact pbhvolunteers@gmail.com

  • Work in the Monarch Market inside the PBH reception area
  • Interact with visitors selling souvenirs, educational and informational items
  • Training provided
  • Workdays – Thursday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm

  • Guide adults on tours and children on school field trips
  • Provide education about Florida butterflies, butterfly gardening, and ecology
  • Manage butterfly house resources
  • Training provided
  • Workdays – Monday through Wednesday for scheduled tours

  • Seek donations and grants
  • Perform general maintenance
  • Write articles for the quarterly Flutterby newsletter.
  • Coordinate annual events like Annual Opening and Monarch Madness
